As a joint project of the East Gwillimbury Public Library and Storytelling York Region, residents and local student and senior volunteers are meeting at the Royal Oak Court apartments’ meeting room to tell, share, and digitally record seniors’ stories about memorable life experiences.  Students will receive basic videography and photography instruction at the Holland Landing Branch provided by Ben Van Gorp, EGPL IT & Digital Experience Librarian.  Students will be able to use the Library’s digital media equipment and supporting software to work with seniors to record and produce their digital stories.  All participants including volunteers will also learn how to tell their own story!

To make this program a success, we need the imagination and expertise of Youth Volunteers.

Student Volunteers will receive an Achieve Ontario-PREB volunteer work skills certificate, supported by Volunteer Canada and the Province of Ontario recognizing specific National Occupation Classification work skills performed in their volunteer participation.
