If you’re thinking about a budget-friendly trip this year, Travel + Leisure has just unveiled its latest list of the cheapest places to travel to in the world in 2024.

And it so happens that it featured three Canadian cities among the affordable destinations!

The rankings were based on data shared by Kayak which is one of the leading travel search engines, and these were compiled by analyzing flight searches conducted from July 2023 to December 2023 for travel in 2024.

The top 250 most-clicked destinations with the lowest average combined flight and hotel prices were considered, excluding outliers based on factors such as travel restrictions and security concerns.

The cities of Vancouver, Montreal, and Toronto emerged as the top choices for affordable vacations in Canada, while Denver, Chicago, and Atlanta secured the overall top three spots in the global ranking.

Keep in mind that prices and percentages are average and subject to change.

Toronto secured the 12th spot in the rankings, earning recognition for its vibrant food and art scenes. The report highlighted St. Lawrence Market in the historic Old Town, where visitors can explore fresh produce, handicrafts, and gourmet specialties. With an average flight and hotel cost of $692, Toronto offers a diverse range of attractions, including lively nightlife and sports events.

Montreal claimed the 13th spot which is celebrated for its diverse food scene.

With an average flight and hotel cost of $705, travelers can indulge in the city’s famous bagels and explore the open-air Jean-Talon Market in Little Italy, offering a variety of fresh produce, spices, chocolates, cheeses, and more.

Meanwhile, Vancouver landed in the 17th spot which was praised for its abundance of outdoor attractions. For an average flight and hotel price of $863, visitors are encouraged to explore Stanley Park, described as an urban oasis with a nearly 20-mile seawall, waterfront views, walking paths, forest trails, and more – all accessible for free!
